Asheville: Landscape Consultant

The Landscape Consultant (LC) will manage sales and projects. The LC plays a crucial role in B.B. Barns Landscape Company as they are responsible for generating the company’s revenue. They act as a permanent link between the company and the customers. Throughout the design/build/garden services process, the LC represents the customer, ensuring that our product exceeds their expectations. The LC also represents the company and ensures that the relationship with the customer remains strong. LCs are excellent communicators who collaborate with all company divisions to uphold company values and achieve company goals. They strive to create a work culture that prioritizes providing an exceptional experience to customers and co-workers alike. The person in this position will naturally radiate B.B. Barns, Inc. Education & Experience:

  • Hold a Landscape Architect or Design degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture, or an Associate in Applied Science Horticulture Technology. 
  • Alternatively, individuals with 10+ years of experience working with plants and customers. B.B. Barns Garden Coaches with 3+ years of experience are welcome to apply for the position. 
  • Certified Plant Professional (CPP) required
    • Applicants should be able to pass a plant identification test with the Sales Manager at Garden Center, which includes identifying plants and knowing their ultimate size, cultural requirements, and design uses. 
    • Applicants must possess basic knowledge about pests, diseases, and their respective treatments in landscaping.

Communication & Sales requirements:

  • Practical verbal and written communication skills are crucial to this role. 
    • Candidates should be able to express design ideas clearly and provide professional explanations for proposals. 
    • Additionally, communicating and coordinating effectively with crews is essential for successful job completion.
    • Conflict resolution is a necessary skill for dealing with unhappy clients.
    • Explain, educate, and train clients regarding basic landscape tasks.
      • Sales goals are set and expected to be met quarterly for this position.

Organizational & Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in relevant computer skills such as Google Workspace, LMN, and VMX is necessary.
  • Ensure the timely completion of tasks, including sending proposals within two weeks, preparing jobs before installation, collecting deposits, and invoicing for jobs completed within 3-5 days of job finishing.
