Columbia: Job Fair

Calling all B.B. Barns prospective team members: both of our Columbia, SC locations are hiring!

Two Notch (1067 Woodleys Way, Columbia, SC 29223) will host a job fair on Friday, February 17 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. We are seeking candidates for Hospitality Support (Cashiers, Loaders, Customer Service team members).

Irmo (92 Dreher Shoals Road, Columbia, SC 29212) will host a job fair on Saturday, February 18 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.  We are seeking candidates for Hospitality Support (Cashiers, Loaders, Customer Service team members), Annuals/Tropicals Support, Nursery Sales and Support, and Delivery/Installation.

Available jobs:

Delivery and Installation (Full-time: year round, 40 hours/week)

  • Work directly with customers to assist them with plant, garden, and yard maintenance needs.
  • Has a current driver’s license, reliable transportation, a clean driving record and ability to drive vehicles in our company fleet.
  • Proven dependability and reliability, and knowledge in delivery and installation.
  • Desire to be goal oriented and to stay on task with minimal supervision.

Inside Sales Support (Part-time: March-September, 16 hours/week)

  • Assist with customer selection and sales within our tropicals, gifts, garden products, birding, seed/bulbs, containers, furniture, and statuary departments.
  • Assist with merchandising new arrival inventory as well as restocking inventory from previous day’s sales.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B.B. Barns’ standards.
  • This position is accountable to the Inside Operations Manager.

Tropicals/Houseplants Sales (Part-time: March-July, 24 hours/week)

  • Assist with merchandising new arrival inventory, customer selection and sales within our Tropicals department.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B.B. Barns’ standards.
  • Accountable for watering and maintaining the health and wellness of all tropical plants.
  • This position is accountable to the Inside Operations Manager.

Annuals Sales (Full-time: March-December, 40 hours/week | Part-time: March-November, 32 hours/week | Part-time seasonal: March-September, 24 hours/week)

  • Assist with merchandising new arrival inventory, customer selection and sales within our Annuals department.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B.B. Barns’ standards.
  • Accountable for watering and maintaining the health and wellness of all seasonal annual plants.
  • This position is accountable to the Annuals Department Manager.

Nursery Sales (Full-time: year round, 40 hours/week | Full-time seasonal: February-September, 40 hours/week | Part-time seasonal: March-September, 32 hours/week)

  • Assist with merchandising new arrival inventory, customer selection and sales within our Nursery Department (trees, shrubs, perennials.)
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B. B. Barns’ standards.
  • Accountable for watering and maintaining the health and wellness of all nursery inventory.
  • This position is accountable to the Nursery Operations Manager

Nursery Sales Support (Full-time: March-September, 40 hours/week | Seasonal part-time: March-September, 32 hours/week)

  • Assist nursery department with unloading of delivery trucks.
  • Assist merchandising of new arrival inventory and customers with loading up purchased plant material in their vehicles.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B. B. Barns standards.
  • Accountable for watering and maintaining the health and wellness of all nursery inventory.
  • This position is accountable to the Nursery Operations Manager.

Receiving Support Seasonal (Full-time: March-August, 40 hours/week)

  • Assist Receiving Manager with unloading and processing all delivery trucks.
  • Accurately count all delivered items to ensure accurate inventory.
  • Assist Receiving Manger with price tagging all delivered products.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B. B. Barns’ standards.
  • This position is accountable to the Receiving Manager.

Hospitality Support (Part-time seasonal: April-June, 30 hours/week)

  • Be the primary staff member that answers all incoming phone calls.
  • Assist customers with hospitality needs (provide information, answer questions, etc.)
  • Assist register team by acting as back up during busy times of day.
  • Assist with sales support of our inside departments (Garden Products, Gifts, and Tropicals).
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B. B. Barns’ standards.
  • This position is accountable to the Front of House Manager.

Register Staff (Full-time year round: 40 hours/week | Seasonal part-time: February-June, 32 hours/week)

  • Provide top notch customer service with every interaction.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Collect customer information and relay business information to customers (sales, promos, etc.)
  • Answer incoming phone calls and transfer to proper departments.
  • Maintain a high quality level of departmental cleanliness that meets or exceeds B.B. Barns’ standards.
  • This position is accountable to the Front of House Manager

Loader (Full-time seasonal: March-November and March-August) 40 hours/week | Part-time seasonal: March-September or March-July, 24 hours/week)

  • Assist customers with loading vehicles in front and back of garden center, ensuring all receipts have been checked and initialed.
  • Provide high level of customer service and ensure care is taken with each customer’s vehicle.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean parking lot area.
  • Assist Garden Product buyer with restocking soils and amendments throughout store.
  • This position is accountable to the Front of House Manager.
