You’ve probably heard about our Houseplant Social: a fresh new event at B.B. Barns of Asheville born in 2022 after we thought, ‘hey, each year we do a Ladies’ Night Out that people always love… why not host a gathering specifically for houseplant people?’ In a post-pandemic world, it felt good and right to socialize and have some fun again. And, we wanted to offer some cheer and color during what can often be the dreary pre-Spring month of February.
With that, the Houseplant Social was born, and after much initial success it’s back this year for round 2. As of today, January 18, tickets are all sold out (our fastest event sell out yet, so thank you!). If you grabbed tickets, you can expect an upgraded version of last year’s event: more door prizes, raffles and giveaways… no more auction (you only have 2 hours, so time spent shopping is of the essence!)… light food/appetizers and dessert (provided by Old Europe Pastries, an Asheville favorite)… local brews provided by BAD Craft (your first one’s free!)… lovely music by the duo Gypsy Grass Band, and of course, houseplants galore to shop at 20% off.
Whatever plants are left after the event on February 9 will go on sale to the public the following day, but we expect most of them to fly! If you can’t make it to the Social but are searching for unusual houseplants, don’t fret – we always have a great selection of houseplants on hand. We promise healthy, top-notch plants with the specifics of caring for them and educated staff to answer your questions too. And of course, blog posts you can always reference for education whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or just starting out:
- Caring for Houseplants
- Choosing Houseplants to fit Your Space and Life
- Designing with Houseplants
- Low Light Houseplants
Oh, and here‘s the downloadable pdf of this year’s rare plant selection – download it now and start making your plant wishlist!
