What is Garden Coaching?

We believe gardening should be joyful, not stressful. Our coaches are plant experts, passionate about helping people connect with their outdoor spaces in a way that feels inspiring and achievable.

Garden Coaching with B.B. Barns is a personalized, one-on-one service designed to meet you wherever you are on your gardening journey. Whether you’re a brand-new homeowner, an experienced plant lover looking to refresh your landscape, or someone who’s inherited a mystery garden full of unknowns, our team is here to help.

You don’t need to know all the Latin names (that’s our job). You just need a vision, and we’ll help you get there.

With our customizable program, you can expect help with:

Plant Identification: We’ll help you figure out what you already have, what’s thriving, and what might need a little extra care… Or a graceful exit.
Light and Soil Assessments: Understanding your site’s unique conditions is key to long-term plant success.
Design Brainstorming: Whether it’s a full garden overhaul or just figuring out what to do with that tricky shady spot, we’ll guide you with ideas tailored to your goals and style.
Plant Recommendations: From native favorites to year-round interest, we’ll help you choose the right plants for the right places.
Installation Guidance: Want to DIY it? We’ll walk you through the process. Prefer to hand it off? We can coordinate with our landscape team to bring the plan to life.
Ongoing Care Guides: Planting is just the beginning! We’ll leave you with the knowledge and confidence to keep things healthy and thriving.

Planning & Purchasing

Our expert offers recommendations for plants, shrubs, and trees that meet your goals and location requirements. Depending on your needs, we can also work with you to select and purchase plants from B.B. Barns.

Planting & Installation

Feeling confident in your choices, you’re now in a more-informed position to take care of your own planting. OR, if you prefer, we’ll coordinate with our installation team to handle the planting. Please note, this is for small projects. Larger projects are managed through our landscaping services.
