Perennial of the Year

June is Perennial Gardening Month

According to the Perennial Plant Association June is Perennial Gardening Month.  This is great news at B.B. Barns because we love perennials!  One of the many things we love about perennials is that so many of them are pollinator friendly which ties in nicely since June 18-24 is also National Pollinator Week.

Stay tuned throughout the month as we showcase perennials that we love for their beauty in the garden as well as their ability to attract pollinators.

Perennial of the Year: Allium 'Millenium'

The Perennial Plant Association has awarded the Perennial Plant of the Year 2018 to Allium 'Millenium'.

"This low-maintenance dependable perennial will not disappoint! Blooming at a time when most of our garden begins to decline in the tired excess of the season, ‘Millenium’ offers much needed color. It is truly an all-season plant that offers attractive shiny foliage spring through summer and caps off the season with its crown of perfectly round rose-purple flower umbels!" Plus, it's a butterfly magnet!
