MemoryCare is a unique service that has been created by Dr. Peggy Noel and her team. The services provided benefit members of the Western North Carolina region. MemoryCare is not a common service in communities so those of us familiar with it are deeply appreciative to Dr. Noel for her vision.
MemoryCare is a nonprofit charitable organization established in 2000 to meet the growing need for appropriate out-patient assessment, treatment, and support for memory-impaired individuals and their families. The mission of MemoryCare is to manage the diseases of dementia, Alzheimer’s and other cognitive impairment through accurate diagnosis, long-term care plans, behavior management, appropriate medications, coordinating services with other agencies and educational training and support for caregivers. Generally, caregivers are family members trying to provide quality time and care for their loved one, who in many cases are living at home.
MemoryCare has been serving the WNC for 18 years through clinical and educational services to those diagnosed and their families. One of the main goals is to provide services regardless of ability to pay. Medicare and medical insurance do not cover the full cost of the comprehensive services MemoryCare offers. We can support MemoryCare through donations and fundraisers like the 2018 B.B. Barns Ladies Night Out.
Team B.B. Barns looks forward to supporting MemoryCare through this fundraiser so our region can benefit from services that will improve the quality of life for those with diseases that cause memory impairment. Our team wants all those diagnosed and their caregivers to receive the fullest spectrum of services MemoryCare can provide.
